About Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine
Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine (RUSVM), an Adtalem Global Education institution, prepares students to become veterinary leaders by drawing connections among animals, people and the planet, as a member of the One Health Initiative. RUSVM offers research programs focused on emerging infectious and zoonotic diseases, conservation medicine and ecosystem health. Job Description
Opportunity at a Glance
Primary responsibilities involve maintaining, logging and dispensing medications and supplies in the Veterinary Teaching Hospital. This position reports directly to the Senior Pharmacist/ Hospital Administrator/ Chief of Staff, and the incumbent works closely with all faculty, staff and students to achieve the goals of the programme and the University's values of: - Teamwork and Communication - Employee Focus - Accountability and Integrity - Continuous Improvement - Helping our Students Achieve Their Goal
Responsibilities
- Under the guidance of the Pharmacist:
- Maintain and control the inventory of drugs in the Hospital Pharmacy
- Prepare and dispense in accordance approved drug protocols for surgeries in both the Hospital and Clinical Science programme
- Prepare and dispense prescriptions approved by clinicians for clients of the Veterinary Teaching Hospital
- Maintain and control the inventory of medical supplies
- Use Avimark software programme for veterinary practice
- Monitor drug concentration and dosage calculations
- Completes other duties as assigned.
- Performs other duties as assigned
- Complies with all policies and standards
Qualifications
- CXC Preferred and
- Cape Subjects (including a minimum of one science) Preferred
- Good communication skills
- Good computer skills including Microsoft Office
- Good mathematic skills
- Ability to work independently
- Able to prioritize and work under pressure.
- Basic knowledge of pharmaceutical drugs
