Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine (RUSVM) offers a unique program of training on the island of St. Kitts in the Caribbean. Students benefit from seven semesters of integrated preclinical and clinical studies at our St Kitts campus, and one year of clinical training at our affiliate veterinary teaching hospitals in the United States, Canada, Europe and Australia.

Our ongoing research focuses on key issues strategically relevant to One Health in tropical and developing countries and includes zoonotic diseases, food safety and security, environmental health, and conservation medicine. We prioritize recruitment of talented faculty and are now seeking a key new member of our team to join us as we develop new programs to best prepare our graduates to face the global opportunities and challenges of veterinary medicine in the 21st century.

Job Description

The successful applicant would be expected to provide didactic and laboratory training to veterinary preclinical students in large animal surgery as well as other laboratories associated with Essential Veterinary Skills. Classroom and laboratory teaching of veterinary professional students is estimated to constitute about 70% of professional effort. The remainder will be divided between research and institutional service. Faculty members are expected to develop extramurally funded research programs that include collaboration with other scientists, advising of graduate student research, and publication in peer-reviewed journals. There is an expectation to undertake some educational research. Faculty members will also complete other duties as assigned.
 

Qualifications

- DVM or equivalent required. PhD or board certification strongly preferred.
- Strong teaching skills and experience or evidence of potential.
- Preference will be given to an applicant with proven teaching skills within the areas covered by the department.
- Good research record or evidence of potential
- Flexibility and ability to work well on a team
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Willingness to reside in St Kitts.
