Job Description

The Associate Dean I will function as part of a leadership team in conjunction with the Dean and/or Associate Dean II. The people filling these positions will need flexibility and creative problem-solving skills and a strong commitment to their professions, assessment, accountability, and evaluation.
The Associate Dean, Field Education oversees the overall delivery, functioning, and design of field education in the Barbara Solomon School of Social Work.
Leadership
- Directly supervises the MSW Director of Field, BSW Director of Field, and Academic Field Coordinator.
- Chairs the Field Curriculum Committee, leading quarterly meetings to review assessment data and evaluate potential course design changes.
Academic Oversight
- Designs and develops field education courses and content.
- Establishes and enforces academic field policies in alignment with CSWE and institutional standards.
- Creates and maintains field evaluation tools, learning agreements, and syllabus requirements.
- Serves as Lead Faculty for field courses or delegates as appropriate.
- Provides field-related updates and insights in academic and administrative meetings.
- Grants final approval for field petitions and placements, ensuring compliance with CSWE guidelines.
- Develops placement approval policies for Field Experience Coordinators (FECs).
- Oversees concerns submitted via Meditrek’s leadership portal.
- Manage facilitation assignments for the 0-credit field experience course.
Administrative Duties
- Maintains and updates the Field Website, Manual, and all field-related communications.
- Leads Field Leadership administrative meetings and participates in planning sessions with support teams.
- Oversees quarterly faculty assignments to field courses.
- Collaborate with Program Directors on academic petitions related to field education to ensure consistency and student preparedness.
- Monitors faculty compliance with Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and teaching standards.
- Provides field data reports and updates to the Dean and School Leadership.
- Participates in monthly university-wide field leadership meetings (MRR).
Student Support and Intervention
- Monitors the designated inbox for students concerns regarding courses, faculty, and general issues.
- Partners with Student Affairs to address student complaints and concerns.
- Offers ongoing support to faculty and students regarding agency-related challenges.
- Oversees development and implementation of comportment plans for students facing challenges in field settings.
- Reviews academic integrity issues in field courses and recommends appropriate actions.
- Consults with Program Directors and Skills Lab leadership on student readiness and comportment concerns.
- Collaborate with Disability Services to support students with accommodations during field placement.
- Provides professional advising to students as needed.
Support to External Constituents
- Develops, delivers, and tracks quarterly training for site supervisors or delegates as needed.
- Creates and distributes resources and materials for site supervisors.
- Establishes policies for site vetting and placement to ensure CSWE compliance.
- Solicits feedback from site supervisors to inform program improvements.
- Conducts outreach to potential field sites to expand placement opportunities.
- Monitors site satisfaction and intervene to resolve issues and maintain relationships.
- Reviews faculty evaluations of sites to determine ongoing partnerships.
- Mediates with sites following negative experiences.
- Collaborates with FECs on site and supervisor approvals.
Qualifications
- Earned doctorate in field of study or closely related field required. Masters in Social Work required.
- Five (5) years of leadership experience at the degree level of the program.
- Commitment to advocating for the learning and development needs of students earning their degrees in a distance learning environment including students who are experienced professionals.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills and the necessary characteristics to work with a strong administrative team to assure the continued success of a growing organization.
- Evidence of compatibility with the mission of positive social change, broad access and professional excellence and our values of quality, integrity, and student-centeredness.
- Demonstrated ability to perform all essential job functions with a high level of proficiency and professionalism.
- Knowledge, skills, and abilities reflect strong alignment with core competencies including business management, teamwork and collaboration, accountability and integrity, problem-solving and critical thinking, effective communication.
- Proven track record of intellectual and professional contributions within a relevant academic discipline.
- Possesses content expertise aligned with the institution’s degree programs.
- Strong statistical knowledge for data analysis related to outcomes assessment and program evaluation.
- Adept at navigating fast-paced, entrepreneurial environments.
- Skilled in identifying and resolving system-level issues to enhance operational efficiency.
- Proficient in electronic communication tools and office productivity software.

Additional Information
In support of the pay transparency laws enacted across the country, the expected salary range for this position is between $80,336.75 and $145,077.09. Actual pay will be adjusted based on job-related factors permitted by law, such as experience and training; geographic location; licensure and certifications; market factors; departmental budgets; and responsibility.
